Our daughter loves this seat. We purchased it to replace the Graco car seat she has been using. She is now 45 lbs. and is now at the perfect height to use the car seat belt safely. We especially like how light the seat is. After lugging around an 18 lbs car seat, it’s a nice change.
The Graco booster car seat is very easy to take from car to car. No more having to fuss with a LATCH system. On top of that, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) rated our Graco high back turbobooster with belt-positioning clip the safest in its Oct 09 survey of booster seats.
We considered the Combi Dakota backless booster as well. However, the belt-positioning clip there seems poorly designed compared with the Graco and seemed more difficult to adjust. We believe the belt-positioning clip is the most important part of the booster; everything else is secondary. Without it, the child is simply not safely secured with the shoulder belt. In a collision the belt can lacerate or even break her neck if it rides above the shoulder and can break her arm if it fits below the shoulder across the upper arm.
After a few months of use, we can say that we highly recommend the Graco high back turbobooster car seat. For around $60, it’s a no brainer.
